Well, we survived, and the houses survived, just foliage down. No power though. Neither at our house or my parents’ house, but we have two gennys and my dad hooked into water next door (my parents have a well, next door is county water). Yes, we brought all our furbabies with us.
So I won’t be online much lately, trying to conserve my data because Internet is intermittent right now.
We were VERY lucky the track shifted east on Sunday and it lose steam so fast. It could have been SO much worse for Tampa. We got a Cat 2 instead of a Cat 5. First person I hear saying Irma was “over-hyped” gets a free cuntpunch from me. Keys are devastated, lots of flooding from Miami to Jacksonville, Lee and Collier counties got whacked hard–it’s a state-wide disaster.
And of course gas is scarce.
And now we have to keep an eye out for Jose. :/

p.s. My friends and I debated which we would rather have: Hurricanes or earthquakes. We voted for earthquakes. No mad rushing around pre event. It hits where its gonna hit and then you deal with it.
So relieved to hear you’re all OK! I hope the pets weren’t too upset by the stress and disturbance. I’ve got friends in Sarasota and Jax so I spent the weekend glued to CNN and ABC Tampa on YouTube, and as you say, it could have been so much worse. I’m really impressed too by how well Florida seems to have learned the lessons from Andrew and applied them, both in organisation and building regs etc. Props to you all, and here’s hoping you get power back quickly!
