If you aren’t a Whovian, just…well, I still like you, but your eyes will probably glaze over now.

Okay, if you haven’t watched The Husbands of River Song yet, then…

SPOILERS, SWEETIE!

Steven Moffat (sneaky bastard) gave us a MASSIVE Christmas prezzie that I think most fans haven’t even opened yet, truly.

He has set up the Doctor to be a woman in a future regeneration. Not just in one, but possibly  in TWO regenerations.

If you look at this clip that portrays River’s death, interspersed with snippets from The Husbands of River Song. It shows that The Husbands of River Song was the next to last time she saw the Doctor, because she talks about what they did.

Also in The Husbands of River Song, there is this exchange between the Doctor and River:

River: He’s dying. We’re about to steal his head and scoop out his brains. Aren’t we overthinking?

The Doctor: I’ll be the judge of that. I’m the Doctor.

River: You know who you remind me of?

The Doctor: Yes, probably a chap with a big…

River: My second wife.

KABOOM.

SECOND. WIFE. (TWO regenerations.)

And that all happened before the later reveal by the Doctor of who he was, since she didn’t recognize him. (Of course she wouldn’t, it was the first time she’d encountered that regeneration of him.)

Don’t let the MacGuffin of her showing the strip of pictures of the Doctor’s former regenerations fool you. River thinks that in this instance she’s going to encounter a male Doctor. Doesn’t mean there wasn’t one (or two) female regenerations that weren’t in that strip of pictures. (Big ball of wibbley-wobbley timey-wimey stuff, ya know.)

We also know, both from The Master/Missy and in Hell Bent (series 9, episode 12) the Doctor asks the General what regeneration the man is on (tenth) before the Doctor shoots the General (a man) who regenerates into a woman, which was her original form to start with, and she was glad to get back to it.

Gastron: Med team to sector 52, extraction chamber seven. Regeneration in progress. Are you all right, sir? Oh… Er, sorry… ma’am.

Female General: Urgh… Back to normal, am I? The only time I’ve been a man, that last body. Dear Lord, how do you cope with all that ego?

Now it’s just a matter of time… (Haha!) But, believe me, I am in NO hurry to see Capaldi leave the show. He’s magnificent as the Doctor, and I absolutely adore him.

What do you think?

Doctor Who: Steven Moffat is a sneaky bastard and has already set up for a future female Doctor.

Thanks for sharing that. It has been a while since I saw that episode with River Song appearing to us for the first time. I watched the timeline of River Song too. Watching her timeline made it more heart wrenching when she gave up her life to save the library. That wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff can really give you whiplash.

Yeah, yeah Sparky…BUT what about the Doctors Daughter, played by David Tennants real life Wife (also daughter of dude who played the 5th Doctor…She’s a potential future female Doctor.

Also If I have to live through another guitar rift by Capaldi’s Doctor I will hit something. I think it’s a generational thing. I frequently want to slap Capaldi’s Doctor. Moffat is a great ideas guy, one of a few truly amazing minds BUT he needs a writing partner to fine tune the wealth of ideas that fly out at us each week, for us poor normal folk. A case in point his Sherlock is astounding, something he co-writes.

and I still like you too. ♥

Jenny is still roaming about in space, though. Unless she got whacked somewhere along the line and I missed that. LOL

I personally ADORE Capaldi’s Doctor. And I like the guitar playing. LOL
