As a life-long resident and native of the state of Florida, I’m in love with our geography. I set my Triple Trouble series based out of Arcadia, Florida. A lot of people don’t realize that, historically, Florida is a huge cattle-producing state.

I envision the Lyalls’ ranch to have topography similar to this. (This wasn’t taken in Arcadia, but it’s pretty common in that area as well.) Sections of pastureland dotted with woods and small patches of cypress wetlands area. (Think the scene where Cail is chasing Elain and she runs into the tree. LOL That’s the topography.)

So if you were wondering what their ranch looked like, there’s a little slice from real life to give you a better picture. 🙂

Triple Cross (Triple Trouble 7) is now available from Siren-BookStrand.

In my younger days, Florida was the largest cattle-producing state in the Union. Our beef was sweet, too, because the rinds and pulp from the Minute Maid plants went to the feed lots and were used to feed the cattle. When I first went to California, I was shocked at the taste of their grass-fed beef.

@Pogonip – Yep, Florida beef tastes different in a good way to me.

Have you ever visit the Cow Camp over in Lake Kissimmee State Park. It takes you back to the early days of the Florida Cow Hunter. (We didn’t have cowboys here.) It’s great to visit. When you come in they tell you that you are stepping back in time and the people you meet are from a different time. We had the best time once when visiting with the whole family. There were these tourist from who kept asking directions for the highway. The guy refused to come out of character and help them. We started to help by saying well he doesn’t know anything he’s from the late 1800’s but and they cut us off and said he should be able to help us. So well we decided that we weren’t from the modern era either and kept talking like we were all time travelers from a different era. Mean maybe but really funny after they decided to be rude.

Another time we were there when one of the cows gave birth. That was pretty cool too.
