Conversation held in my kitchen this morning:
Hubby: (Stirring stuff in the Crock Pot.) Why isn’t this getting hot?
Me: Is it plugged in?
Hubby: Yes.
Me: Is it turned on?
Hubby: (In duh tone as he once again carefully stirs the potato chowder that’s almost over the top of the dang thing.) Yeeesss. (More duh tone.) The outside feels warm but the food’s still cold.
Me: You just filled the darn thing five minutes ago. Hence why it’s called a “slow cooker.” And FYI, you should have used the larger one. That one’s almost too full.
Hubby: (Blink.) Ohhhh…
(I should add Hubby is becoming a very good cook, but he hasn’t used a Crock Pot very often. That’s usually been my domain. But he’s trying a new potato and ham chowder recipe that already smells delicious. And yes, he’s still The World’s Best Husband(TM).)

Please, please could he share the chowder recipe? It sounds wonderful…and I’d have to agree…he’s still The World’s Best Husband. I need to use my slow cooker (Brit speak for crock pot) more…with RA & fibro it would make sense – most nights I’m too out of it to cook.
Hugs xx
Way to go hubby! We’ve just gotten into Crock Pot cooking over the last few weeks and have completely fallen in love with it. We’re already planning the purchase of another, larger unit! 🙂
