…my true love gave to me — a new freezer. :/

Yes, I awoke today, on Christmas Eve, to Hubby telling me the freezer finally died.

*head/desk*

This was a freezer my grandparents had bought, and it’s been repaired twice because Grandaddy insisted on getting the annual Sears contracts. The last time was after we inherited the house, and the repair guy told me once they start needing repairs, a lot of the time it’s easier just to replace them because the newer ones are more cost efficient anyway.

We had to throw away a bunch of stuff, like ice cream, pot pies, things like that, but some of the stuff was still frozen, and after emptying all the ice cube trays and the bucket from the fridge’s freezer, and cramming stuff into a REALLY old fridge out in the wash house, we saved most of the meat.

So I threw on clothes and ran down to Lowe’s. (Haha, sorry for the rhyme. Wait, no I’m not.) I’d run a quick check online and they had a free delivery/haul away special going. No, I didn’t have any hope of having a new freezer today.

I was probably the easiest sale the guy had all week. I looked at my phone, where I’d jotted down the measurements (it fits into a limited space), and they had one upright that would fit. They luckily had three in stock.

Then the million-dollar question: When can I get it? (Believe me, I had NO hope of getting one today.)

He called the delivery manager and said this afternoon after learning I lived literally 10 minutes down the road from the store. Got back here, Hubby had left to run to Publix, and I get a call from the driver that they’re on the way.

I called Hubby back, frantically started unloading what was left in the freezer (pasta, flour, etc. stuff that won’t go “bad”) and locking up dogs and cats.

Long story short (too late) I now have a new freezer sitting in my kitchen.

Lowe’s ROCKS.

That. Is. All. (Yes, I did call the store and asked to talk to the manager so I could tell him how happy I was, and the operator gave me a corporate number to call to tell them. So yes, I did tell corporate how happy I was and to please make sure to recognize the salesman and delivery guys for the excellent service.)

LOL. 🙂 I had a couple of Facebook friends suggest I just put the food outside…until I reminded them I live in FLORIDA. LOL Actually some of it did go outside, because today was garbage day. :/ At least we saved the expensive stuff.
