Quickie update because #DeadlineHell – Kindle, audiobooks, pre-orders, Nook fuckery

I literally am in deadline hell right now.

Seriously.

Not even metaphorically.

On top of a bad fibro flare right now…let’s just say it’s a good thing my job doesn’t require pants.

Let’s start with the Nook fuckery. I opened Facebook yesterday morning to PMs asking if I could still see my Siren-BookStrand e-books on Nook.

I could not. Just the print versions.

A little investigation showed that it looks like Nook changed shit without bothering to, oh, NOTIFY anyone. There are a LOT of romance/erotic romance e-books that you cannot even search for unless you’re logged into a Nook account. Because once I logged in, I could then see mine. Yet, you could still find a book on bestiality. (Go figure. Blech.)

So fair warning, log into your Nook account before browsing. It seems slipshod right now what is and isn’t behind login. Authors, make sure to post notices to your readers when posting Nook links that they must be logged in.

A Kinkmas Carol (Suncoast Society 41, various, BDSM) is now available on Kindle, which means it’s coming soon to other third-party outlets. (Yes, it’s a Kaden book.)

Also, a quick note, I have ZERO control over the pricing of my books published through Siren-BookStrand. Also, Amazon does forced price matching when other retailer sites drop a price for whatever reason. Google Books does weird pricing shit that Amazon then matches. Just wanted to address that after I saw it crop up in a review. Authors who are published through a publisher have NO control over pricing.

Description

Seth and Leah are hosting a kinky Christmas party for their friends, complete with a rigging contest. This time of year is always hard on both of them as they each remember Kaden in their own way, and the past and present come together in their hearts and memories.

Kaden wasn’t just an important part of their lives—he mentored countless people as a founding member of the Suncoast Society munch group. As the revelers congregate and reminisce about their lost friend, it’s soon apparent to some that, just maybe, there’s an extra guest in attendance who wasn’t on any RSVP list.

Are their imaginations simply running wild due to the evening’s high spirits? Or is it possible that the ultimate control freak is fulfilling a promise he made to those he loved most?

And Grease Monkey (Drunk Monkeys 4, mfm) is now available in audiobook format:

Description

Riots? Plague? Armageddon? Child’s play for…the Drunk Monkeys.

Dolce Quinn is a former sniper and military mechanic trying to find and rescue her friends now that Los Angeles is coming apart at the seams. She teams up with a neighbor and formulates a plan to avoid the riots and Kite virus, but they still have to escape the city safely.

The Drunk Monkeys have a line on another doctor from The List. When Roscoe and Niner try to rescue the doctor, their plan almost goes to hell in the face of an oncoming mob until Dolce steps in and saves their bacon.

Banding together, the group takes in Dolce and her neighbor. When a devastating earthquake levels the region, they must evacuate. Just one little problem—they still have a military mole to take care of. And when you mix a grease monkey with a couple of Drunk Monkeys, there’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on.

Description

Doyle Turner’s a psychologist specializing in addiction recovery and is a professional sober companion. He’s also a recovering alcoholic with over twenty years of sobriety under his belt. And he’s a Dom in his personal life, which he hasn’t had much of lately. Mevi Maynard not only tests Doyle’s infinite patience, the handsome rock star’s testing his self-control.

Mevi Maynard’s rock-bottom crash follows the discovery that his manager stole his fortune. Now, Mevi’s fresh out of rehab. If he doesn’t want to file bankruptcy, he has to stay sober for the new tour or he’s out of the band. But what he can’t admit to Doyle—and has never admitted to anyone—is that he’s gay.

One patient Dom. One stubborn rock star. Both are really stupid men, according to their friend, Tilly. Can she help the men get out of their own way and see the light, and their love for each other, before it’s too late?

Also available for pre-order is Happy Valenkink’s Day (Suncoast Society 44, various, BDSM):

Description

[Siren Sensations: Erotic Consensual BDSM Romance, M/M, M/M/M, M/F, M/F/M, bondage, heavy use of sex toys, spanking, suspension play, HEA]

The Suncoast Society is having a BDSM Valentine’s Day party, and “Aunt” Tilly’s watching the kids while everyone else attends the “adult” festivities. She’s planned arts, crafts…and combat practice. What could possibly go wrong?

Let’s just say it’s a good thing some of the Doms have well-stocked first-aid kits in their toybags.

Note: This book contains double penetration.

Yes, still slogging through edits on books 2 and 3 of The Great Turning. And once I get those done, I’ll get to the edits on Bleacke Spirit. Remember, I’m self-pubbing those and that takes time and resources for an editor. I’m working as fast as I can on them, but I want them to be right.

“But Tymber, why so many Suncoast Society books?”

It’s not just Suncoast Society books I’m working on, even though I can see why someone would think that. I always have MULTIPLE projects ongoing at any given time. I’m talking dozens. If I get blocked on one, I automatically switch to another one so I don’t lose working time. I’m also working on Triple Trouble, Good Will Ghost Hunting, and Brimstone Vampire books. Especially now that the three series overlap. I want to be able to have a chunk of those books done and turned in at once so there’s less of a wait for you to get the rest of the series. (Well, the next step in the series. The major story arcs.)

The nice thing about my Suncoast Society books is that while it is a series, all the books are, for the most part, standalone. So I can write stories in that world and not have to re-read the whole series five times to make sure I didn’t screw up any continuity. (Usually.) It’s not as intensive a writing procedure on the prep end of things. There’s not a massive story arc I have to keep in mind.

While I love what I do, I also have to make a living doing it. Otherwise, I can’t pay my bills. And if I lose my health insurance, like it looks like might very well happen here shortly, I am, quite honestly, fucked. I have pre-existing conditions, and my cardiologist flat told me that if my condition (which they think is linked to my fibro) worsens, or if I can’t stay on my meds/the meds stop controlling my symptoms, yes, the worst-case is that I could have a “cardiac event.”

Meaning, it could kill me.

Soooo…yeah. That’s scary.

This is my day job, and I have to balance a lot of things, including my health, which is in the shitter right now, to be honest. That’s not a sympathy plea, it’s to explain how I work. No, I haven’t abandoned any series. Yes, I’m still working on them. But I do have a method to my madness. My Siren-BookStrand books, they handle the editing, covers, formatting, distribution, etc. They give me set deadlines that, if I want to get paid (I do, trust me) I have to meet. All I have to do is write the books and do the edits and turn everything in by the deadline they give me.

It’s not that I don’t work as hard on them as I do my self-pubbed stuff, but I’m forced to let go of manuscripts by my publisher. I can’t keep rewriting and rewriting and tweaking like I can my self-pubbed stuff. I’m not one of those writers who can slap something together and then hours later, upload what amounts to a rough draft to KDP. I seriously stress when I find a typo in any of my published books. The good thing is in my self-pubbed books, I can go back and fix things, whereas I can’t in my Siren books. Once they’re out there, they’re out there. Rarely, if I discover something right upon release, they can fix the file, but after it’s sent to third-party distro, that’s it. Done.

So I hope that helps answer questions.

I really appreciate your patience, and I’m working as fast and as hard as I can. I have a lot of books planned for the future, especially this year, and I’m trying to work my way through them as quickly as I can to get them to you.

Thank you for reading, thank you for buying my books, and thank you for your support.

Your health comes first! I appreciate every book you write. They are presents on bad days even on the 20th reread (for now I am in a serious Davis-mania on my 5th reread. I hope to get glances of their lifes in future books… ).
    Don’t stress yourself too much.
    Greetings

Barnes and igNoble’s management of the Nook and eBook access was so bad that I deleted my credit card info for my accounts and haven’t shopped there since. The B&N corporation should be executed for buying Fictionwise and destroying it. FW at least KNEW how to market eBooks. I’ve got the figures. The last year FW was in business I spent $2000 on eBooks. The next year, $200.

I have to admit that you made my day when I read that you also suffer from the dreaded “deadline” sickness, thou I am sad to hear that you are not doing well health wise.

Good luck and I hope that you are not hit with any more crap than it seems that you have to deal with at the moment. It sounds like you are building up a buffer to the books as well and that is always a difficult thing to do.
