The Bard and I will be dressing up for Halloween as Laszlo and Nadja from What We Do in the Shadows. It’s one of our favorite shows, and I’ve even managed to obtain a cheap 18″ doll from Fb marketplace to convert to Nadja’s ghost dolly!

And this weekend marks the opening of the new movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. I cannot wait to see that! If that sounds vaguely familiar, it’s the vessel in the book Dracula that he uses to cross from Europe to England, and…things…happen. LOL

If you watched the 2020 BBC mini-series Dracula starring Claes Bang (God, he plays an asshole well, doesn’t he? Did you see him in Bad Sisters?) then you got to see the what happened on the Demeter in that version. (It diverts from the original book but in the interest of entertainment I didn’t object because I liked their take on it.)

Vampires. I looooove them. My very first fiction book published was Love and Brimstone (Brimstone Vampires 1). It came out on 08/08/08 (yes, my 15-year publish-versary just rolled over!) and I took a different approach to vampires. (Yes, I am going to write more in that series.) Books 1 and 2 (Brimstone Blues) are available in e-book with the old cover, or available in print with the new cover.

AND… If you use KU you can get my vampire book Her Vampire Obsession for FREE! It’s part of the Midnight Doms world, but you can read my book standalone without having to read the entire series. I also have a story in that series in the All Souls’ Night anthology. I do have plans to write another couple of books set in that world, but still playing catch-up with everything.

Anyhoo. I’m posting chapters of Bleacke Moments (Bleacke Shifters 8) over on my Patreon site. Once I’m finished with the edits in the next couple of weeks, I’ll release the book wide on all retail sites (Amazon, B&N, Google, etc.) and my Patreon subscribers will get the final copy free in e-book format.

It’s been hotter than hell here in Florida lately, with feels like temps over 100F. (That’s unusual for us.) And, of course, the larger A/C unit I’ve been nursing along since last year (it’s a 220v wall-mounted window-shaker kind) is struggling. So I’m in a holding pattern to see if the well pressure tank or A/C dies first because it’s going to cost about the same for either one. And I ended up having to replace the battery in my Honda Element last weekend, which was a chunk of change I wasn’t expecting to have to spend. (At least my Costco membership paid for itself because they had it in stock for over $80 less than everywhere else.)

What’s your favorite vampire retelling? Or are you a purist who prefers the original book? Feel free to sound off down in the comments!
