The soul always comes home…

Ice queen Anastazia “Taz” Proctor is an aloof attorney, a “fixer.” Hunky Matthias Hawthorne wants her for more than just an employee…much more. Will she believe him when he reveals their shared secret—that they’re vampires, but that it’s not the way Hollywood portrays them? Maybe not, but with someone out to kill her, she might not have a choice. She also can’t ignore what her body tells her about her handsome boss.

An escape with Matthias to the safe refuge of Yellowstone National Park leads Taz to discoveries about her lineage and what she can do with her newly awakened powers. Even more disturbing is her unexplainable attraction to Matthias’s handsome cousin, Rafael.

Time grows short as a traitor in their midst makes another attempt on Taz’s life. Will she and Matthias survive when they’re caught in a vicious showdown between Love and Brimstone?

Love and Brimstone (Brimstone Vampires 1)

Love and Brimstone is a revised edition of Tymber Dalton’s first published book and showcases her ability to wring emotions from the reader even in this first effort. There were parts that were laugh out loud funny, but there is also tear-inducing tragedy, along with mystery, suspense and breathtaking settings.

Anastazia “Taz” Proctor is a powerful attorney with a strange background. Her flighty parents let Guilty Pleasures Book Review Blog - A True Gem badgeher in the care primarily of their major domo, Tim Robertson and she considers him her adopted Dad, especially after her parents’ mysterious disappearance. What Taz doesn’t know is that Matthias Hawthorne sent Tim to look after Taz and her parents, because they have the ancient gene mutation that turns them into vampires. But Hollywood has it all wrong. Vampires have an exceptionally long life (Matthias is over 600 years old), heal rapidly and have enhanced senses of smell, hearing and eyesight, along with the ability to communicate –and control others- mentally.

After Taz comes to work for Matthias, a monster attacks her, and the planned gentle introduction to her powers changes to a need to educate her and fast. Taz shocked and horrified by the information, fights Matthias and her own attraction for the man while battling werewolf like monsters and betrayal from within the ranks of the other vampires. Complicating the situation is Matthias cousin Rafe, who has suffered his own loss in the past, and finds himself incredibly attracted to Taz, who shares his fascination. But as Taz begins using her powers, she finds she can do as much harm as good.

While Dalton creates an intriguing world of vampires, it’s a little over the top in regards to their supernatural powers. But the character development and the emotional factors outweigh the deficiencies.

Much of the book is set in Yellowstone Park and comes complete with great descriptions of the incredible scenery. While there are some sex scenes, they are limited and strictly vanilla, in contrast to a lot of her later work. In her notes, Dalton mentions that the editor cut out the prologue to the story. I agree with Dalton that it should never have been eliminated, as it provides unique insight into the heroine’s character and relationships.

Overall, a satisfying read.

Love and Brimstone

"4 Pixies - LOVE & BRIMSTONE is not your traditional vampire romance and I loved the 'new spin' Ms. Richardson creates in her story. She does a great job of creating something new from the old and making it work. She gradually introduces you to her concept of vampires as events unfold in the plot and I really liked that. The pace of the book is just fast enough to keep your interest without feeling rushed. Her characters are well developed and interesting. There is plenty of action and emotion between our two main leads as well as some steamy sex. Taz has to really evolve in the story, everything she has known in her life has basically been a lie, or if not an actual lie just the tip of the iceberg. I really enjoyed the way she deals with everything and found myself rooting for her. Matthias is a good guy and you find everything he has done in the past has been for Taz's protection. Their romance is not smooth sailing and I enjoyed the conflicts and their resolutions as it made their romance very real. LOVE & BRIMSTONE was an enjoyable read and I would love to explore more of Ms. Richardson's offerings."

Love and Brimstone

Anastazia is a smart and strong willed attorney that is suddenly thrust into a world where nothing makes sense to her. Now she has to face a new world and her part in it. That’s not her only problem though. She has to try a fight the temptation of her new boss. She tries to figure out whether this is all real or just a figment of her imagination and what part this new man plays in it.

He has spent the last ten years watching over her. He loves her, but has never truly met her. Now it is time to meet face to face. Can Matthia convince her that he is no threat to her and make her realize what a great guy he is? He really is kind and caring, (not to mention rich) and tries to help Taz understand everything new that has happened in her life.

It starts off as a great read and stays that way with lots of mystery, plenty of characters and plot twists. One of the only problems I had, was that Taz started acting like a childish brat for awhile. It seems as if this is the way the author wanted her portrayed. Even one of the other characters even called her a brat a time or two. This paranormal plot takes you in plenty of directions, and you never know who is going to attack and when. It has clever twist and turns that will keep you guessing until the end.

Love and Brimstone

Lesli Richardson has taken the vampire myths that we all know to a very different level. No more fangs, coffins, or hiding from the sun. This is definitely a skillfully spun story about some new age vamps. You might even find yourself unable to stop reading due to the powers this story will have over you! Love and Brimstone is a powerfully sexy book - a must read!

Love and Brimstone

Anastazia Proctor is an attorney with an exceptional record. She craves a challenge almost as much as she craves control. Her guardian, Tim Robertson, has given her the tools to maintain that control since she was a little girl.

Matthias Hawthorne is a centuries old vampire. He lost his first love years and years ago, but now he has another chance; one he does not intend to let slip by, even if it takes years to come to fruition.

Anastazia, or Taz to her closest friends, or in her case Tim, is very leery of accepting the amazing job offer from Matthias. She senses something about him that is out of the ordinary, and her senses have never let her down. The attraction she feels for him is just one more reason to say no. His eyes are liquid blue pools of sheer lust, and she wants nothing more than to dive right in. Matthias can feel Taz’s every thought like it is his own, and he has no intention of letting her out of his sight. Her very life depends on his protection. A life that even she knows very little about, but will be more extraordinary than she could possibly imagine.

This is a vampire story unlike any other. The whole genetic concept is fantastic, and lends the story a truly realistic element. The characters are completely identifiable, and the reader is hooked immediately. Taz and Matthias are like two pieces of a puzzle that can only come together in just the right way. The forces around them try to tear them apart, but once they click, nothing can separate their love for each other. I absolutely recommend this to any paranormal reader, and can only hope Ms. Richardson is a fast writer!
