Yeah. That blog headline pretty much sums it up.

Chuck Wendig, as always, has written a great summation that explains it.

Sigrid Ellis also discusses it:

Her personal Facebook page… And her boss took offense. Basically stating that on her personal Facebook page that she has to clarify it’s her personal Facebook page. Also, it sounds like everyone has a right to free speech UNLESS you are a woman, a person of color, or not straight. At least that’s how it read to me.

@Amy – Exactly. And no, I think it’s more her boss is an idiot and didn’t research the situation (I hope) before taking the stance he did in the face of righteous indignation from the idiots. Unless her boss honestly believes she was wrong, in which case saddens me because I’ll never buy another TOR book again if that’s the case, as long as he’s at the helm.

Apparently, Freedom of Speech is allowed at TOR only if given prior approval by CEO. How silly of her to forget posting that non-disclaimer on her personal on-line page before writing that post.

Saddens me to think that after all the hard-fought gains through the years, we as a society seem to be on a regressive road which can only end in tragedy.

The list of people I don’t want to inadvertently support appears to be growing by the minute. *sigh* Over the years I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of many Tor books/authors. Now I have to think hard about whether my book buying dollars should go to supporting this kind of fuckwit and his appeasement philosophy. At this rate, I might be left with rereading the ad copy off the back of cereal boxes to get my reading fix.

Please tell me you don’t plan on turning into a screaming harpy. I love your work too much to boycott it.

@Julaine – LOL No, the only harpy-like screaming I’ll do will be at asshats like the guy running TOR. I hate shit like that.

Well, I’ll state Tom’s fuckup has me considering boycotting Tor, but considering that Gallo still works there and still does great work, I’m not sure I want to take money off her dinner table. It appalls me though that there appears to be a culture of misogyny in their offices, though, after all the great books I’ve read from their authors. A shitty situation all around.
