Over the holidays, between a fibro flare, a deadline that went whizzing merrily by as a result, family obligations and goings on, and the #RWAshitshow, I discovered a new-to-me TV show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Holy cow, do I love it! And part 3 is coming to Netflix on 1/24/2020.

It’s dark and definitely NOT a TV show to let young kids watch, but the writing and acting is fantastic. They’ve done a great job setting up larger story arcs and left us all hanging at the end of part 2 with a great intro to the next part.

There were a few plot flaws that made me a little crazy (Why didn’t they just bury the Anti Pope in the Cain Plot at the Spellmans’ house to bring him back to life?) but not to the extent that I couldn’t enjoy the show.

Yes, I binged it. I love how they portray her dilemma to be a “normal” kid with her use of magic. How she’s trying to rebel against having to sign in the book to access her powers so she can save her friends.

Michelle.

Gomez.

Oh, my fricking Goddess, that woman can ACT. Which, to be honest, is how I landed on this series. I was lamenting missing Missy on Doctor Who ahead of the newest season starting, looked up Michelle Gomez, found out she stars in this, and bam.

I was hooked from the first episode.

Anyway. I mean, the vibe is a little bit Buffy the Vampire Slayer, only darker. If you haven’t watched it yet, you might enjoy it.

Meanwhile, I tried watching The Witcher and only made it fifteen minutes into episode 2. Henry Cavill’s taut thighs and tight, leather-clad ass isn’t enough to keep me trying to watch it, either. Apparently there are multiple timelines, but it would’ve been fricking nice had the showrunners decided to, oh, use fricking TITLES to designate switching between the timelines.

Ugh.

My attention is pulled in enough directions as it is. Don’t make me work that hard to decipher something for no damn good reason. And when I looked up some reviews for it, apparently there’s some pretty disgusting ableism that happens, too, so… Yeah. No great loss, unfortunately.

What are your thoughts? What have you been watching lately? Feel free to sound off in the comments!
